Why we're here

More than a roof. A life with choices.

For families of autistic people with significant support needs, the question of safe, dignified adulthood can be overwhelming. ASD Allies is being developed to help create a better answer.

Our vision centers on autonomy, communication access, respect, meaningful daily life, and the opportunity to be part of a wider community.

We want to build a place we would trust with the people we love most—and a system that does not ask families or residents to rely on trust alone.

Flagship initiative

Housing built around people.

Our proposed first project in Los Angeles is a mixed-use building with private apartments and ground-floor commercial spaces. Residents would have individualized support and the freedom to participate in the broader community.

Stable apartments

Safe, accessible homes with individualized services based on each resident's needs, preferences, and choices.

Community on the ground floor

Potential grocery, café, retail, and everyday services designed to welcome the public—not create an isolated campus.

Long-term sustainability

A proposed blend of donations, eligible public-service funding, affordable housing revenue, and commercial activity, subject to feasibility and approvals.

This is a proposed development concept. No property has been acquired and no residential services are currently offered.

We envision public-facing businesses that create supported, paid employment pathways for autistic adults. Training should adapt to the individual, not demand that the individual conform to a rigid system.

Employment would be a choice, never a condition of housing. We would pursue job coaching, workplace accommodations, and opportunities for growth both inside and outside the community.

Professional standards

Our proposed staffing model prioritizes experienced, well-supervised professionals, including graduate-level developmental and mental health expertise where appropriate.

University training partnerships may eventually create supervised placements, but trainees would not replace qualified permanent support staff.

Independent oversight

Clear incident reporting, external review, whistleblower protections, and strong anti-abuse policies.

Transparent monitoring

Explore secure, unscheduled access to designated common-area cameras for authorized people, only where resident consent, privacy, and licensing law permit.

Communication is a right

Support for AAC, accessible reporting, and independent advocacy so nonspeaking residents can express preferences and concerns.

Monitoring policies will require legal, regulatory, and resident-rights review before implementation.
